Description

PDO Surgical suture is ideal for a variety of medical operations. From pediatric cardiovascular procedures requiring growth potential to ophthalmic, digestive, and plastic/reconstructive surgery, as well as general and cuticle surgeries – this type of suture offers a secure approximation of tissues.

PDS Polydioxanone Sutures

Polydioxanone (PDO) suture is a monofilament, synthetic absorbable thread favored by medical professionals due to its polymer composition. Compared to absorbable sutures created with a thread of natural origin, PDO causes less irritation and tissue reaction after implantation. Among its other synthetic absorbable suture counterparts, the PDO variety has many advantages to offer. Its tensile strength and flexibility are far greater, and the tissue approximation period is twice as long. These attributes make the suture ideal for use in internal tissues or any procedure that needs an absorbable material with lengthy retention and reinforcement qualities. Wound support can be maintained for up to 50 days when using a DSI PDO suture due to its impressive tensile strength and pliability.

Product Details

PDO sutures have an absorbable quality that renders them ideal when prolonged wound support is necessary. This is achieved through a straightforward hydrolytic mechanism, where up to 50 days of healing aid can be expected. Over the span of 6 weeks, Polydioxanone sutures will typically retain 75% of their initial tensile strength after 4 weeks, followed by 50% after 6, and finally 25% at the 8-week mark. Upon completion of 180 days, this type of suture will be completely absorbed into the body.

Sutures are of the highest grade in terms of sterility and meet stringent “Grade A” sterilization standards. This process involves radiology techniques, as well as gamma-ray sterilization, which can take up to one month to complete without interruption. All sutures are licensed by CE and ISO and will come packaged with a double layer of sterile protection inside aluminum foil for an added level of security.

Crafted with careful attention to detail, Suture needles are made from a 300-series surgical steel alloy. Meticulously designed to be as slim as possible without comprising strength, their laser-sharpened edges ensure that sutures can be successfully passed through tissue with minimal injury. Crafted with exceptional rigidity to avoid any bending, while ductility minimizes breaking. Incredibly stable in a needle holder and resilient against corrosion.

Each size is comes in a box of 12 Individual sterile packs of 75 cm/ 30” suture with pre-installed 19 mm reverse cut 3/8 circle atraumatic needle.
